Objectives:

The objectives of this assignment are to:

      • Build a new WordPress site using your knowledge of planning, design, and structure.
      • Create and modify content for the website.
      • Establish a logical site structure.
      • Apply visual hierarchy principles to the content.
      • Implement an objective-driven content strategy for pages and posts.

Instructions:

For this assignment, you will launch a new WordPress site from scratch for a fictitious local business. Follow these guidelines:

      • Business name: Choose a name for the business.
      • Business type: Local tour guides.
      • Background: A group of local tour guides who offer walking, foodie, and wine-bar tours. They are experts on the community’s history and culture.
      • Goal: Become a go-to source for visitors who want to experience the community through a local’s perspective.
      • Objective: Drive more leads through an attractive and easy-to-navigate website.
      • Target audience: Men and women; 30-50 years old; travelers who seek bespoke and exclusive experiences.
      • Brand voice: Open-minded and adventurous.

To complete this assignment, follow these steps:

    1. Plan your small-business website.
    2. Launch a new WordPress site. Choose a theme for your business or modify the default theme.
    3. Create at least six pages for your site:
          • Homepage: Provide a concise presentation of your business.
          • About page: Share an in-depth explanation of the business, including your story, value proposition, and customer profiles.
          • Services page: List concise descriptions of the services your business offers.
          • Testimonials page: Include at least three short testimonials from fictitious customers.
          • Contact page: Provide relevant information and a contact form, including a Google map pinpointing the business location.
          • Blog page: Publish at least two blog posts, incorporating visual hierarchy techniques and multimedia elements.
    4. Structure your site logically by including appropriate menu items.
    5. Write a maximum half-page report on the planning process, detailing any surprises or challenges that arose and explaining the rationale behind your site choices. Include goals, objectives, and any encountered surprises or challenges.

      • Create objective-driven content.
      • Utilize multimedia elements to enhance the visual appeal and interactivity of your content.
